Buck’s mid-year product drop is here, and there’s much to talk about – but today we’re just going to look at what is arguably the flagship in the new knife cohort, the 110 Slim Heritage Elite.

The Buck 110 is, very likely, the knife we’ve talked about most over the years here at KnifeNews. In earlier days it was used as a reference point, not only as the first step towards modern folder design, but also as the quintessential flagship knife: a single model that sums up a company’s entire style. In more recent times, Buck leaned into the 110, turning out all sorts of bewitching variations over the years – latest of which is sitting here before us today.

The new knife is a compelling blend of old and new

The 110 has always been a large knife and the general proportions – at least as far as the blade goes – are reincarnated here. 3.75 inches of California clip is what’s on offer, and that clip will clip for a long time indeed given that it’s made from CPM MagnaCut – and not only MagnaCut, but MagnaCut with a Paul Bos heat treat to boot. Modern steel, classic opening method: the 110 Slim Heritage Elite still sports the time-tested half moon nail mark.

You may not be able to tell just looking at it, but the 110 Slim Heritage Elite’s handle is also intriguingly modernized. The overall thickness has been thinned to .375″, making it a much less…..noticeable pocket passenger. Too, Buck has added a deep carry pocket clip on the off-side bolster. Those bolsters can be had in either traditional 110 brass, or nickel silver if you aren’t a fan of the patina brass acquires over time. The weight is 5.4 oz. on either version.

The 110 Slim Heritage Elite is available now.
