Taurus has just released a .380 Auto variant of its GX4 Carry T.O.R.O. pistol.

When it comes to affordable defensive pistols, Taurus’ GX4 line has become a very popular option. The company has released variants of the handgun in different sizes and colors, models with optics-ready slides, and even a version with a pistol brace, but until now, they’ve all been in 9mm Luger. For those looking to pack something with a bit less punch, there’s the new GX4 Carry T.O.R.O. .380 Auto to consider.

Most people prefer defensive handguns chambered for 9mm Luger these days, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some valid reasons to carry a .380 Auto. The big one is lower recoil, making it an easier round to shoot for individuals with hand strength issues. That said, even shooters who can handle 9mm should be able to control an equivalent .380 pistol even better.

Outside of its .380 ACP chambering, the new Taurus GX4 Carry T.O.R.O. model is almost identical to its 9mm counterpart. Almost, because the .380 version is 0.08 inches slimmer and weighs about 0.5 ounces less. They otherwise both have a standard magazine capacity of 15 rounds, flat-faced triggers, interchangeable backstraps, accessory rails, and optics-ready slides with a Holosun K-pattern footprint.

Shari-Lynn Fix, Director of Sales at Taurus USA, said this about the new .380 Auto GX4:

For decades, Taurus has focused on making dependable firearms more accessible to all shooters … The GX4 Carry .380 Auto builds on one of our most popular platforms by giving customers another option that offers an even more comfortable shooting experience while maintaining the performance, capacity, and everyday carry features they’ve come to expect from the GX4 family.

A 10-round version of the .380 Auto GX4 is available as well. Both models ship with two magazines and have an MSRP of $340.99.
