A former U.S. Army combat engineer turned gun influencer was arrested for distributing videos that provided step-by-step instructions on making explosives. In the criminal complaint filed in a Missouri federal court, authorities linked Jordan Derrick’s tutorials to at least two incidents, including the deadly 2025 terror attack in New Orleans. The complaint alleged that Shamsud-Din Jabbar, also an Army veteran, downloaded Derrick’s videos and created explosive devices consistent with Derrick’s content. Although his bombs failed to detonate, Jabbar killed 14 people and injured 57 others after driving a pickup truck into a Bourbon Street crowd before exchanging gunfire with police…
FEMA is a somewhat controversial government agency. Some people love FEMA because they bring food and supplies after a disaster. Other people hate them because they don’t bring enough food and supplies after a disaster (or not quickly enough). Some people say FEMA is inefficient and a waste of tax money. Other people argue that they wouldn’t be so inefficient if they were properly funded. But whatever you think of FEMA, the people working there want you to be prepared. Why? Because the more prepared you are, the less you’ll rely on them for help when disaster strikes (and they…

In situations where battlefield medical care becomes overwhelmed during heavy combat, the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is looking toward a future in which robot medics tend to casualties. The agency envisions swarms of robots linking up to drag wounded personnel to safety. They would also inject lifesaving drugs and even shapeshift themselves to form splints around broken limbs, according to a DARPA Small Business Innovation Research solicitation. The goal is to create an “autonomous, self-deploying, wound assessing, swarm-capable, self-linking, mobile robotic solution to assist reaching and moving casualties and perform life-saving interventions at the point-of-need,” the solicitation states.…

This article was originally published by Michael Snyder at The Economic Collapse Blog. For much of the nation, it feels like we are in a permanent economic crisis with no end in sight. I have been documenting our long-term economic decline for years, and now we have reached a point where Americans have literally never felt this bad about the state of the U.S. economy. Considering everything that we have been through over the last several decades, that is saying a lot. So, how will the American people feel if economic conditions continue to deteriorate? We might want to be…
The College Football Playoff has been a resounding success in some areas, and a frustrating example of the modern sport in others.Instead of decades of debate over which team with a similar record had the better résumé and bowl win, there’s now a definitive national champion. But for a sport with more than 130 teams, finding the right balance of allowing more teams into the tournament without diminishing the importance of the regular season has been difficult.Four teams wasn’t enough, which led to 12. And even with 12, there are disagreements over whether deserving programs were excluded. Like last year’s…
After the nationwide average of fuel prices increased significantly due to the war in Iran, U.S. lawmakers are grappling with its effects on aviation fuel ahead of approval for fiscal year 2027’s National Defense Authorization Act request.A portion of the U.S. Air Force’s budget is set aside for the purchase of aviation fuel based on a predicted fuel price and an increase in flying hours for fiscal 2027, but that cost was estimated and submitted in their budget request before the war began, Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., said on Thursday at a Senate Committee on Armed Services hearing.“My understanding is…

Despite 81 years since the island of Iwo Jima was declared secure — and several years since these two Marines last saw one another — the first thing out of their mouths wasn’t sentimental, it was trash talk. “Hey, get outta that chair,” barked the 101-year-old Don Graves. “Sitting in that chair with your arms folded.”“I’m freezing!” rejoined William “Billy” Byrd, now 100.“He looks like he’s been through battle right now,” Graves continued. The two Marines, part of the 2nd Battalion, 28th Marine Regiment, 5th Marine Division that was famously tasked with capturing Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima, had been…
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the military to intensify its attacks on Lebanon. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has now been commanded to increase the strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon to deliver what Netanyahu has described as a “decisive blow” to the armed group. This order is problematic, as it came during the ongoing ceasefire between the Jewish state and the Lebanese government in Beirut. This ceasefire was agreed upon in mid-April after more than a month of fighting and was extended earlier in May. The escalation in obvious violation of the ceasefire could further complicate indirect talks…
