DPP, RMSc, RMR, ACRO, and Doctor Optics: all similar but different red dot footprints. Are you confused yet? The world of optics footprints is messy and confusing. The naming conventions sometimes overlap, also adding to the quagmire. In this article, we’ll sort through it all to provide a clear answer as to why each exists. Hopefully, you’ll be less confused by the end. There are a variety of red dot optics on the market. Not all of them share the same mounting footprint. Shown here is a close-up of the Steiner MPS Bottom and plate for Springfield Echelon 4.0C. While…

One of the many incoming Civivi models we did not have space for during SHOT Show coverage, but that we definitely want to talk about, is the Entelodon. This flashy folder is another entry into Civivi’s growing Karambit Corral. We know what you’re asking yourself, dear reader – and fear not, we’ve already asked the question ourselves: what the heck is an entelodon? As it turns out, this is a prehistoric mammal, a nearly man-sized creature with a generally pig-like look accented with sizable, dare we say fearsome, dentition. In fact, the enteldon is sometimes called the “killer pig” for…

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! Time is not fungible.  The time you spend reading this column cannot be “reclaimed.”  It is gone and it won’t be back. Which is why the “talking filibuster” proposal for the United States Senate is such an awful idea.I wrote the first paragraph fully aware of the jests it will bring forth — thank you for underscoring my point by posting a comment along the lines of “That’s five minutes I will never get back.” You are correct. You won’t get it back. Hold that thought. It applies to the United States Senate…

Back when I first got into the gun business in the mid-1990s, my gun-handling and shooting skills were, to put it charitably, extremely—well, let’s go with “mediocre.” I was enthusiastic, read everything I could on the topic and knew all manner of facts and statistics, but I just didn’t have a lot of trigger time or formal instruction. I was the sort of shooter who would have been referred to on the internet then as a “Counter-Strike Kiddie.” My carry habits were similar: Enthusiastic yet casual. In the gun store I managed I carried a Glock G23, mostly. Sometimes I’d…

The National Infantry Museum was established in 2009 and is located on the grounds of Fort Moore in Columbus, Georgia. Before its closing in 2008, it was housed in the former Fort Benning hospital.  In 1998, the 501(c)(3) National Infantry Museum Foundation was formed to plan, raise funds for, and operate a new museum. The Foundation has since formally partnered with the Army to manage the facility. The National Infantry Museum chronicles the story of the United States Army Infantry from the American Revolution to the present, featuring artifacts from all eras of American history. It covers 190,000 square feet…

The United States is preparing to send troops to Nigeria where they will train the country’s armed forces as they battle an Islamist insurgency, authorities in Lagos said recently. Roughly 200 troops are expected to be deployed in the coming weeks, according to a U.S. official. They will supplement a small team of American military officers already embedded with Nigerian forces. The Wall Street Journal was the first to report on the imminent deployment. Nigerian officials insisted that the new American contingent will not be engaging in combat. Maj. Gen. Samaila Uba, a spokesman for Nigeria’s Defense Headquarters, said in…

Editor’s Note: The following article is not intended as legal advice and represents the opinion of the author. Consult all applicable federal, state and local laws. Everybody knows that there are many places where you cannot carry a firearm — even if you’re licensed — like federal buildings (USPS, courthouse, etc.), airports, schools, hospitals and posted businesses. While you may have a fully capable EDC pistol and the skills to use it, what if you find yourself in a situation where you can’t employ it? What’s your backup plan? Given a no-gun-carry scenario, the question arises: In lieu of your primary…

Fixed blade fans, you’re eating good this week: Defiant 7, a collaboration shop between two knife making legends, Chad Nichols and Les George, has just rolled out a new pair of fixed blades, the Ace and the BK. The two fixies show off the duo’s passion and reputation for hardworking blades, and one of them features a design from another knife community legend. Ace This one comes from the mind of Les George himself, and that’s evident at a glance, as it features one of George’s favorite visual touches: the stepped-up thumb platform on the spine. This is an everyday…
